English

From flying frogs to fish with regional accents, this week's English is full of surprises! We start off with one of our favourite, albeit unusual, picture books called Tuesday by David Weisner. Enjoy watching the strange tale unfold then get into role as a detective to investigate this strange case. The grammar this week focuses on modal verbs and speech punctuation amongst other things; make sure you revise how to use these correctly then have a go at using them in your writing. You will also look at newspaper reports and have a go at writing one yourself. Remember all the features that we looked at in class when writing the Philippe Petit report - a formal tone is a must! At the end of the week you will be looking at how to create catchy headlines. Puns are always good for this and are also often used in jokes which reminds me of the time I told a chemistry joke...but got no reaction...

Enjoy! It would be great to read some of your newspaper reports!
