Through delivering an engaging and thorough English curriculum, we intend to provide our children with the reading, writing and spoken skills that they will need for the future in order to participate fully as a member of society.
We have created a broad and varied, book led English curriculum that continues to evolve to suit the needs of our children and the changing world around them. By inspiring an appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage, we aim to develop a love of reading and a habit of reading widely and often. We recognise the importance of nurturing a culture where children take pride and ownership of their writing, can write clearly and accurately, reflecting and adapting their language and style for a range of contexts.
We want children to be enthusiastic learners and endeavour to provide an interesting and rich experience of literature in its many forms including drama and visual media. By developing children’s communication skills, we aim to teach them the importance of expressing themselves with clarity and equip children with the vocabulary in order to achieve this.
It is our intention that children develop a secure knowledge base in literacy, which follows a clear pathway of progression as they advance through the curriculum.
