Newsletter 12 [Friday 27th November]

Dear Parents/Carers

Well that was an eventful end to the week! Thank you for your understanding with regards to the decision to close school today – it causes too many issues having no water at all. Several Formby primary schools were in the same position & closed too. Your children were great & it was lovely to see how many genuinely wanted to stay in school for the rest of the day. Hopefully, United Utilities will be able to get the situation sorted by Monday – if you don’t hear anything from us just presume we’re opening as normal.

Next week, FOWSA are holding their fabulous Secret Santa event on Thursday (nursery, reception, Y1&2 + 6R) & Friday (Y3&4, 5D + 5/6P). Your children will be able to buy a present or two for their loved ones. All presents are priced at £3.50 each and each child is allowed to purchase a maximum of two presents. Today is the last day for booking a slot – don’t miss out, the link closes at 9pm tonight! To book a slot visit pta-events.co.uk/fowsaformby and follow the instructions.

As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, our reception classes (Red & Blue) & our Y1 classes (Green & half of Purple) have started rehearsing their Christmas performances. The reception show ‘We’re Going on a Christmas Elf Chase’ will be available to view online, &, all things going well, we are hoping to sell DVDs of Y1&2’s show ‘Straw & Order’ (there is a slight delay in this being confirmed as several members of Purple Class are consulting their legal teams in a dispute over ‘image rights’).

Your children continue to impress us with their attitude to their work & also their eagerness to learn. We know that sometimes, especially with older children, they can be a wee bit reluctant to share what they’ve been doing at school. Hopefully, these questions / prompts will allow a dialogue to develop. Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ [Y1&2 have got me using Google again!].

I have linked a couple of documents from North West Boroughs Health Team. One is a menu of services available from Formby’s School Health Team, the other is a list of websites that parents may find useful to support their children’s emotional health & well-being.  https://www.woodlandsschoolformby.co.uk/e-safety-information-online-resources/

Another step closer to Christmas – it’s exactly 4 weeks today!

Last Word

Parallel lines have so much in common.

It’s a shame they will never meet.
