Summer Newsletter 13 [Friday 16th July]

Dear Parents & Carers

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Mrs Barnes is leaving Woodlands. She has been a much-loved member of staff since 2002 & has helped countless numbers of Woodlands’ pupils with their learning in her role as TA. She is such a caring, kind-hearted person & always put the interests of the children first. Everyone at Woodlands would like to wish her well for the future – I’m sure she’s looking forward to being able to spend more time with her grandchildren. We will miss her – not only in the classroom but the staffroom too.

Our Y6 children have been spending their last few days at Woodlands taking part in a range of activities: an afternoon on Formby beach making sand castles & sand sculptures; an evening round the campfire toasting marshmallows; a night under canvas on school field; a full day at Go Outside pushing themselves to their limit. Today they’ve enjoyed a picnic on the school field followed by an open-air disco with DJ Alex. I must say thank you to the staff in Y6; it would have been easy for them to organise a couple of low-key events & send Y6 on their way. Mrs Hughes, Miss Pickford & Mrs Rimmer have been determined to give our leavers the best possible send-off – what they have managed to organise has been simply spectacular – the children are very lucky to have such dedicated staff. Please look at the ’Latest News’ section of the school website to see lots of photos from the last few days.

In September, we will be contacting you about parental vacancies on our governing body for. Please keep an eye out for details of how you could be part of helping shape the future of Woodlands. Parent input is vital for the effective running of our governing body.
