Woodlands' Playground Pals (Yr6 pupils) receive training early in the autumn term. They are on duty on alternate weeks on the infant playground, where they play a variety of games with children from YrR–Yr2. The games (such as ‘Duck-Duck Goose’, ‘Farmer’s in the Den’ or ‘5 Currant Buns’) help the younger children learn to play with each other and develop their relationships with their peers. The Playground Pals are also trained to deal with any minor issues in a sympathetic and non-judgemental way. At the end of lunchtime they help settle the children down in their class so that they are ready for the afternoon’s activities. The younger children thoroughly enjoy having the Playground Pals on the infant playground and it really helps establish friendships & links throughout Woodlands.
