A MASSIVE congratulations to our Young Baking Team of the Year Finalists

After getting through to the national finals of McDougall’s Young Baking Team of the Year, Holly, our School cook, and three talented children had a fabulous day competing against four other schools from around the country.  The children & Holly started their journey to Birmingham with enthusiasm and excitement which never left them for the whole day. They were amazing!

The children had an hour to cook our chosen dish of rhubarb and custard muffins with a crumble topping which they did magnificently and although the children were just pipped to the post for first place we are very proud of them. Just getting to a national final is incredible!

Judge’s Feedback

  • The tartness of the rhubarb and creaminess of the custard was exceptional
  • Holly was absolutely amazing, she really stood back and supervised and allowed the children to create everything from scratch which was great to see
  • The custard was set really nicely in the bottom of the muffins
  • Was great to see that the whole school was involved – with reception creating the muffin cases
