Spring Newsletter 11

Dear Parents & Carers

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. I’m writing this while waiting to attend FOWSA’s Easter Fair – I hope to see many of you there after school today. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful people of FOWSA for their continued support of our school.

Our Y1&2 and Y3&4 girls football teams were involved in Formby Community FC’s tournament this morning. They all had a great time – thank you to everyone who gave lifts & supported the team. Our Y1&2s came home victorious, with a wonderful trophy clutched proudly in their hands – congratulations! Our Y5&6 teams are playing as I’m typing this newsletter.

We’ve had the draft report sent to us from Ofsted. When Ofsted give us the go ahead, we will be able to share the final report with you; this next stage of the process can take up to 30 days.

At Woodlands, we always encourage our children to try & make a difference, whether that’s in school, in our local community or further afield. This week, I was approached by a couple of our pupils asking me if they could organise a bake sale to raise money to support the people affected by the war in Ukraine. So, I’m thrilled to announce that Jim & Vin’s Cake Sale will be held on Monday 28th March (after school), under the canopy in the junior playground. The cakes will cost 50p each, but feel free to donate as much as you want to this worthy cause. All money raised will be going to the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

I just wanted to remind you to check out the class pages on the school website to see what your children have been learning - Click here

Here’s this week’s conversation starters to help you find out about your child’s learning.

This week our attendance is 94.2% - not quite where we want to be (97%) but it’s better than last week. Well done to Purple Class for being the only class to break the 97% mark ((98.5%)., no classes achieved 97% or above this week.

We had 4 classes who had no late marks this week: Yellow Class, 3/4M, 5/6P, & 6R. It’s been a pretty good week for punctuality: just 13 late marks across the whole school. 11 late marks ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 2 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

Reminder: school closes for the Easter break at 2pm next Friday (1st April).

Enjoy the weekend – it looks like another sunny one.

Last word

A woman gets on a bus with her baby.

The bus driver says, “That’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen.”

The woman walks to the back of the bus, furious.

She says to the guy next to her, “The bus driver has just insulted me!”

The guy says, “Go & confront him – I’ll hold your pig for you…”

Thanks to Belle
