Today, we were considering the issue of map projection. First, we drew a rough outline of some countries onto a satsuma. We then carefully peeled the fruit, trying to keep the peel in as few pieces as possible. We found that it is impossible to make a perfect rectangle and we considered the impact of this on cartographers when making maps. We looked at the Mercator and Peters projections and discussed the positives and negatives of each.
