Nursery Week Beginning 12th January 2026

Happy new year! It has been lovely to welcome back the children and to meet some new faces. The children are settling in, making new friends and learning the routines of Nursery.

This week we are starting our new topic - Once Upon a Time. We will read a selection of traditional tales beginning with Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will discuss the story, the setting and the characters in it. We will draw and paint the characters in the story, discussing what the different characters are like. We will also retell the story by ordering pictures.

At home - Can you talk about the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears? Who are the characters in the story?

In maths, we are learning about numbers within 5, focusing on the numbers 1 and 2. We will make the numbers, match the quantity to the correct numeral and place the correct number of objects on the 5 frame. We will notice how many spaces are full and how many spaces are empty.
