Reception- Autumn Term 2

This term we are learning about festivals in our topic 'Let's Celebrate'. We are learning about different culturtes, traditions and celebrations that we experience and also other people experience. We will be looking at what and how we, as families, celelbrate special occasions like birthdays, weddings, Christmas, Bonfire night and many more. We are also comparing our celebartions with others like Diwali and Hannuka. 

Our curriculum will help us to become more indepepndant in our learning this term, and help us achieve new skills when we are talking about celebartions using new voculary in our speech. We will be dev;eoping fine motor skills when we make and create  bonfire scenes and Diwali decorations and patterns. We will be writing short captions and refining our pencil control and grip.

We will be continuiing our love of reading by celebrating the author Julia Donaldson. We will be reading her books, discussing her life and linking it to our learning about London from the Gunpowder plot. We will be discussing rhyme and words that sound the same in her stories. We will be discussing new words and vocabulary and joimning in with repeated phrases.

At the end of the term we will be learning about Christmas. The true meaning and story and how we celebrate it today. We will be able to compare it with other celebrations that we have recently been learning about. We will help to decorate our classrooms nd identify how our homes and local area are decorated at this time of year.
