Reception-Week beginning 29th September

Date: 24th Sep 2025 @ 11:54am

This week we move on to reading 'Elmer'. This is a wonderful story that allows us to focus on friendships, feelings and emotions. It also allows us to encourage the children to explore maps and habitats of other animals. Our classroom provision will allow the children to focus on colours, colour mixing, songs and mark making. We will be re-reading the story of Elmer and other books in the series so that the children become familiar with the characterisation and setting.

In mathematics the children are moving onto comparing size, mass and capacity. They will be learning to use concrete, everyday objects. The focus will be on vocabulary and using new words within their play and investigations. We will be using words l;ike big/small and heavier/lighter.

We hope that you are enjoying the QR code stickers and accessing the short RWI videos. The children are making great progress with their sounds and it is lovely to see them engaging with the 'fred talk' activities. You can help at home by sounding out simple words for objects around your home and asking the children to guess what you are segmenting e.g. 'Put your shoes in the b-o-x' 'Hang your coat on the p-e-g'

Please remember to continue with the BINGO homework and share your achievements with us.
