The children were thrilled to find out that Woodlands' had won Formby library's summer reading challenge (Wild World Heroes). We had almost 50 children, from our nusrsy class to Y6, being presented with certificates for taking part in the challenge - this was the highest percentage of participants in any Formby primary school. They had to read 6 books over the summer holidays.
At Woodlands, we realise the importance of reading as it a key learning, not just in terms of fluency & undersatnding but accessing the rest of the curriculum as well.
We would like to thank Sarah & Ellie from Formby Library for coming to school to present the certificates & the cup too! We'll have to make sure we lead a successful defence of our titile when we get the cahnce over the summer of 2022.
