IMPORTANT: a parking plea

Dear Parents/Carers

I would like to remind you about parking your cars considerately when dropping off or picking up your children:

  • Please don’t obstruct people’s driveways or park on the pavement.
  • Please don’t park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction.
  • Please don’t park where you may obstruct Paddy’s (our wonderful ‘lollipop man’) view of the road - he needs to have a clear site of the road to ensure he can cross our families safely over Woodlands Road.

We are part of the Formby Schools Road Safety Initiative which is trying to keep your children safe as they enter & leave Woodlands; all schools in Formby are taking part in this.

Yesterday, we placed four ‘How is your parking today?’ yellow warning signs on the pavement opposite the main (car park) gate on Woodlands Road. This was to remind parents/carers not to park on the pavement - this makes it dangerous for families crossing the road with or without Paddy. Unbelievably, one of our parents drove onto the pavement, knocking one of the signs over in the process, & parked on top of it!

I am at a loss for words...

Please consider our neighbours & park responsibly. Your children’s lives are being put at risk by irresponsible drivers.

I hope I can count on your support in this matter,

KD Williams
