Congratulations to 'The Boys from Y5' for winning the Formby Poetry Slam Grand Final at Formby High School.
The children used the civil rights protests in the USA from the 1960s as their inspiration - paying tribute to Rosa Parks & Martin Luther King for leading the fight for equality for all (maybe people do listen to my assemblies!).
The boys had been chosen by Curtis Watt, a performance poet from Liverpool, to represent Woodlands in the grand final against the other Formby primary schools. They put on a powerful performance titled 'Freedom!' & obviously impressed the judges on the night.
