Woodlands' House Captains @Southport Foobank

After the amazing generosity shown by Woodlands’ parents & pupils with during our Harvest Appeal, our House Captains visited Southport Foodbank to find out what happens to all the tins, packets & cartons once they leave school.

On arrival our House Captains were taken through each stage of processing the donations:

  1. Weigh all the donations – it’s important to keep track of exactly how much food is donated.
  2. Label each tin or packet with a coloured sticker (& number) to indicate the use by date of each item.
  3. Store each item in the correct place (i.e. soups together, tinned vegetables together, etc.) so that the shorter use by dates are given to the Foodbank clients first.

After processing the items, the House Captains were given the task of making up food ‘parcels’ to be given out to clients of Southport Foodbank this weekend.

The children were wonderfully behaved & really enjoyed their experience at the Foodbank; they were thrilled to have put together food parcels that will help others through difficult times.
