The children had a wonderful time rolling, crawling, leap-frogging, jumping, cart-wheeling, hopping, hoola-ing(!), skipping to complete the Woodlands' Sport Relief Mile - some of them even ran!
The event was planned & organised by Woodlands’ Year 6 House Captains; they wrote & presented an assembly to the whole school to inform the children of the Sport Relief Mile & to explain the challenges faced by working children across the world. The pupils watched a short film about Champa, a ten-year-old girl from Dhaka in Bangladesh, who lives in a slum settlement and has to work collecting rubbish from the street to sell to support her family. A project funded by Sport Relief is helping her to attend a drop-in centre for a few hours a day, where she can study, make new friends and find time to play like other children her own age [click on this link to watch the film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul29gIquBIo].
A huge 'Thank You' to all family members & friends who so generously sponsored the children - we've raised an astounding £3014. Brilliant! Simply brilliant! Everyone should be very proud of themselves for raising so much for such a wonderful charity.
We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we all enjoyed completing the mile.
