Spring Newsletter 11 [Thursday 28th March]

Dear Parents & Carers

I can’t believe that we’re already breaking for Easter today. Technically, we’re two thirds of the way thorough the school year. We’ve got lots to look forward to during the summer term, including: WOODfest (Y6 leaver’s show); FOWSA’s Silent Discos (I can’t wait to see, but not hear, this!); Woodlands 2-week Sports Festival (culminating in our Olympic Sports Days); Y6 @PGL (3 days of outdoor adventures); FOWSA’s Circus Sensible (see below).

This week’s ‘nudges’ are as follows…

Nursery

{English topic: ‘holes’ Louis Sachar}

I’d like to remind you about a plea from a couple of weeks ago for help from FOWSA with regards to Circus Sensible:

Dear Parents and Carers

We are looking for your help. We have a unique opportunity we are hoping to bring to Woodlands this summer.

We have tentatively booked Circus Sensible for July 12th and 13th. On Friday the 12th, performers will come into the school to do circus skills workshops for all the children, free of charge. The Circus will then do 2 shows on Saturday the 13th.

We first need to see if we have enough volunteers to make this possible. We will need help in the lead up, including jobs such as: help with advertising/ticket sales, refreshments planning & buying, game/tombola planning& organising, possible raffle prize collecting/ticket selling. Then, the day before/day of, help setting up, running of stalls and refreshments and manning the gates, etc.

Can everyone please let us know by 28th March if you are happy to help with any and / or all of this? It is a huge job and with a small core FOWSA team we are struggling. If we can't get enough help, we will have to cancel the circus and workshops. Please let us know via email at
[email protected]

As always, we rely on the lovely support from our parents/grandparents/carers and are grateful for any time you can spare, every little bit counts.

Please let FOWSA know by the end of today if you can help in anyway – it’ll be a shame if this rather wonderful event does not go ahead.

If you, anyone in your family, or anyone you have a passing acquaintance with, would be interested in becoming a cleaner at Woodlands, please contact Ms Roberts in the school office. 01704 876444 / [email protected]

I hope you all have a good break over the Easter holiday. We’re looking forward to seeing you all again on Monday 15th April.

Last word revisited

I advertised a python for sale in the paper, a man rang up and said “What size is it?”

I replied “It’s quite big”

“How many feet?” he asked,

“None, it’s a snake...”
