Spring Newsletter 6 [Friday 23rd February]

Dear Parents & Carers

I’d like to thank all the parents & carers who attended our Y6 SATs parent information evening yesterday evening. I was lovely to see so many of you there to try unlock the mysteries of the KS2 SATs: Just what type of words are is your child going to be asked to spell? What’s the grammar paper all about? How can your child pick up extra marks on the reading paper? What’s the difference between maths papers 1, 2 & 3?

As part of a topic which look at people who help us, Red & Blue Classes (reception) were visited by Merseyside Police today. We’d like to thank Gres, Aaron, Tim & Mike for talking to the children about all the ways they help people 7 for showing them ‘the van’ too. The siren was the best bit – though it was very loud! Next week, reception will be visited by Merseyside Fire Brigade.

Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’…

This week, our whole school attendance is 96.2% - below our 97% target. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance. We only have 5 classes other class equalling or bettering 97%: Red Class (98.2%), Blue Class (98.6%), Yellow Class (97.2%), 4W (98.0%) & 5D (98.1%).

We had 4 classes who had no late marks this week: Red Class, Yellow Class, 5/6P & 6R. We had 19 late mark across the whole school. 14 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 5 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

We’re holding our nursery parents evenings for our N2 children – those pupils who will be starting reception in September 2024.

  • Tuesday 5th March 12.30 - 5.00pm [Mrs Simpson]
  • Thursday 7th March 12.30 - 5.00pm [Mrs Riding]

Please book your appointment using School Spider – the form will close on Thursday 29th February at midday.

The week after next, we are holding our Y6 Come Dine with Me on Thursday 7th March. It’s another chance for parents & carers to come into school & sample one of Holly the Chef & her team in the kitchen’s wonderful meals! This time, the choices on offer are Scouse  with crusty bread or Katsu quorn curry with basmati rice. If you are interested in coming please book (& pay £3.50) through School Spider. You’ll then just need to turn up to the school office at 11:20 on the day. Next year group ‘on the menu’ will be Y5… details to follow early next week.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
